Today’s blog is Part Two of a two-part series designed to help you bring more ENERGY back into your life.

Did you know that just five minutes of walking could be the key to more energy? Many of us spend hours each day sitting—at our desks, on the couch, or in the car.
Living such a sedentary life drains our energy, but even small amounts of movement, like a short walk, can give us a big boost. When I give presentations in my area, I talk about how all movement counts and the powerful effects walking can have, especially if you’re starting from a place of low activity.
The Quick Start and Building Momentum with Walking
Imagine starting with just five minutes of walking each day. It might feel like a small step at first, but this little bit of movement can be the start of something bigger. Think of it like a growing habit—beginning with just a few minutes, and then, over time, adding more. Soon, you might find yourself walking for 15 minutes, then 20, and eventually reaching a steady 30 minutes each day.

One person in one of my recent presentations began with five minutes of daily walking. After 8 weeks, she’s up to 20 minutes and aiming for 30! Despite previously using a walker and cane due to past injuries, she’s moving with more confidence each week. That five-minute start turned into an energy-building habit that keeps her going.
How Walking Boosts Your Energy
Why does walking help boost your energy? When you walk, your heart pumps more blood, which brings oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and brain. This extra circulation makes you feel more awake, alert, and full of energy. Walking is like waking up your whole body and mind, giving them what they need to keep going strong. Plus, walking releases endorphins—those natural “feel-good” chemicals that lift your mood and reduce stress.

Since you’re moving instead of sitting, you also burn energy, which helps you sleep better at night. Walking is a fantastic, natural way to build energy!
Benefits of Starting Small and Going Steady
Our attendee’s journey from five minutes to 20 minutes of daily walking has had some incredible benefits: she’s sleeping better, feeling more energetic throughout her day, and building confidence. It’s amazing what a few minutes can do! And it all began with a simple five-minute walk just eight weeks ago.

Take the First Step Toward More Energy
Ready to start building your own energy? Give it a try—just walk for five minutes today, and do the same for a few more days. Notice how you feel. Even this small step can help you feel more alert and focused. So, lace up your shoes and go for it!
